How to clean car mats
Sand, dust, karak and AC condensation — Dubai floors work hard. Five minutes a week keeps a set looking new; the routine depends on the material.
The weekly routine
Take them out and shake the sand off outside the car — the stitched edging keeps the shape.
Vacuum with the pile, then against it — that lifts the sand that sits at the base. Weekly is enough.
Rinse with a hose, shake, put back. The closed cells don't absorb water or smells and dry in minutes.
Wool and pile: blot with a damp microfibre and mild soap, don't soak the backing. Dry in the shade and refit.
Care by material
- Premium Wool — shake out and vacuum; spot-clean spills — no hose
- Sky Star 20mm — vacuum; damp cloth for spills
- Polyamide 12mm — shake out and vacuum
- EVA — rinse with a hose
Care questions
Does wool shed or flatten?
A dense 20 mm+ pile settles a little in the first weeks and then holds its look; regular vacuuming keeps it standing. It is a natural fibre — treat it like a good carpet, not like rubber.
How do I clean EVA mats?
Shake out the sand. Now and then rinse under a hose — water only, no chemicals. EVA doesn't absorb water, so the mat dries in minutes.
